Top Secret Clown Business

My girlfriend and I had spent our lovely quality time together doing some shopping. Yeah it's crazy to actually shop on a Sunday given that everyone in Macondo is doing it (even though the economy is bad, shopping malls are full here. go figure.), but she had to buy some kitty litter and some supplies. Afterwards we skipped over to the theater to watch "The Devil's Rejects".

It may be a sequel to "House of 1,000 Corpses", but this one is much better. The original was campy, and bad. Zombie's premise was "what would happen if we made this characters real?" The result is a two hour southern fried hellride and a homage to Tobe Hopper, road movies and 70's flicks. The characters are scary, intense and a who's who of 70's and 80's cinema. The Firefly family, The Unholy Duo, Banjo and Sullivan and the Sheriff were very well played. Top notch acting there. The soundtrack was a great mix of deep fried southern rawk, country, a homage to Terry Reid and the instrumental pieces kept the flow of the film.

Yes, it's very corny to put "Freebird" at the end, but it works. The film is very intense and gets to you. Zombie knows how to push the buttons and knows how to create real roadkill. Oddly enouth, you actually feel some sort of simpathy, not only to the Sheriff's crusade but to the Fireflys as well.

There's a lot of black humor involved. My girlfriend was laughing during the film. Yes, we have a very twisted sense of humor. We enjoyed very much and give it two thumbs up.

Then we had dinner and 80's music at Uno. We had a blast. Even though our meetings are short and sweet, they mean a lot to me. It's my chance to have a good time with someone I really love.

Anyway, it's Monday and already there's a shitstorm at the office. So.........
