I got the pinkeye blues!

0 observations
Fucking pinkeye! Friday was supposed to be a very long day with lots of things to do. Unfortunately I got pinkeye on Thursday night so everything I planned went south. Way south. So no interview, no DJ set and no job and my gf had to work on Sunday so no visit from her. I told her not to come anyway because I didn't want to get her pinkeye. Still.

My father fell on this week and, well, he's in his early 80's and now needs my help to get around the house and whatnot. The worst thing is that if I was not sick on Friday, he would've probably died because no one in my family was there to help him. It's fucking frustrating and my blood is boiling because of it. *Sighs*

Anyway, I got lots of things to take care of, so I think it's time to focus on what's really important and forget about the rest. Man up!

My sympathies to Eze. His office was flooded and he had to deal with some family issues as well as the show. My heart goes to him.

NEW ORDER LYRICS - All Day Long:

"This is a song about an innocent
Who died at the hands of a desperate man
He trusted those who he thought he knew
He trusted those who he looked up to
I'll never forget the joy in his face
He'd laugh and he'd cry and he'd ruin my place
He'd drive me crazy, and he'd drive me wild
I used to scream and shout all day long

Now I hope you know this song
Is about a child who now has gone
And other children like him, too
Abused and used by what adults do
So don't tell me about politics
Or all the problems of our economics
When you can't look after what you can't own
You scream and shout all day long"

and it's not the good kind nor i have the proper reason to feel like this. actually, i do. with the current strike at the university, if it continues the way it is, i won't be able to bill the radio station for my hours. therefore, i won't get paid for a while. it's got me worried because i have to incur in some expenses and this is the last payment of the money i owe my lovely mother. so things might get gloomy.

anyway, i'm psyched because i got a packet from the post office job so this week i'll complete it in time for my friday interview. the whole screening process will apparently take all day so i best get the paperwork done soon. that means getting up early at an obscene hour. great.

my girlfriend is busy in frankenstein mode installing her new harddrive. we didn't see each other this weekend because of the bad weather forecast and it was all hot and sunny. great.

but hey, i got to watch "the interpreter" with the hippie and bought some books to help me understaned linux a wee bit more and some more virtual instruments for my setup.

speaking of linux, nicotine is a nice client for all you soulseek addicts who use linux. check it out! i think i'm pretty happy with kanotix (debian) on my laptop and pclinuxos (mandriva) on this desktop that has taken a permanent vacation here. the coolest thing about pclinuxos is that you can upgrade the kernel effortlessly. great work to tex and the pclinuxos crew. mandriva can learn a lot from these guys.

friday also is the FA anniversary show. fucking hell. friday is going to be a very very extremely long fucking day.

i know i know the blog's layout looks funny. i'll take care of it when i get around to it, ok?

***********

In a totally unrelated subject, LS and I had one of those long morning chats. She's been stressed due to family things and I've been a bit depressed due to things at work, the dream about the asshole, the name in the conversation and yesterday I was looking through a site that features different voice talents and browsing through it I found a particular listing of someone I thought long gone. Well, she has the same name and the same location of that particular person. Yeah a sense of closure is needed, but being that I happen to be in a relationship now and that was a thing from days past, I decided to hold it off until I could talk to my gf and get some advice.

Turns out that was the best decision. It was nice having someone to talk about it and get a perspective. I needed to come clean to her about it and to assure her that I am still her boyfriend. Just because I want to get some closure on this person wont' mean I'll leave. Au contraire. I just want to close the books on that one for good. I moved on and I found someone better and lovelier. Let the past be gone. Focus on the present.

AOL Monitor Accused of Luring 15-Year-Old
Email this Story

Apr 17, 5:23 PM (ET)

LOS ANGELES (AP) - An Internet chat room monitor hired to keep children safe from sexual predators seduced a California girl online and was about to meet her for sex when he was found out by a co-worker, a lawsuit charges.

According to documents filed April 1 in Los Angeles Superior Court, the online relationship began when the girl was 15. She met the AOL employee in a children's chat room and confided in him about her parents' divorce and her troubles making friends.

Their conversations online and by phone became increasingly explicit, the lawsuit says. They were preparing to meet on the girl's 17th birthday when one of the monitor's co-workers became suspicious and prevented the encounter.

The lawsuit charges AOL and its parent company, Time Warner Inc. (TWX), with failing to supervise the employee and of falsely advertising that its online service was safe for children. It also charges the monitor with inflicting emotional distress.

America Online spokesman Nicholas Graham said the company fired the monitor and contacted authorities after learning of the situation in April 2003. The man, who was 23 when he met the girl online, has not been charged with a crime.

Graham said AOL puts its chat room monitors through "rigorous screening and training procedures," including a criminal background check.

The teenager, who is now 19 and living in Los Angeles, waited two years to bring legal action because it was "a very confusing and painful time for her," her lawyer Olivier Taillieu told the Los Angeles Times.

The suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages of more than $25,000 but does not give a specific dollar amount. Taillieu did not immediately respond to a call seeking comment Saturday.

highway therapy and fragments of a conversation

0 observations
So my lovely woman took the highway therapy route and we had a blast. Lunch, geek shopping mode at CompUSA for her new hard drive and a USB memory stick, some quality time, snooze and then I gave her a spare monitor I wasnt using. Forgot to get her a keyboard but its ok. I can bring it to her next weekend. Right now I'm so bushed. Dunno if I'll get to watch Deadwood tonight. Anyway it was great to be able to spend quality time with her.

************

Why people have conversations with me about people I don't really give a shit about? I mean, honestly, please, spare me. If you know of people I don't really want to know about, why bother bringing them to the conversation? Specially with things that won't convey no sympathy for me. Honestly. If I was more cruel, I'd say well, that's the breaks, but hey. That's their sad little life they have to deal with. I haven't had anything to do with that person from ages. Pero puej.....let them live their petty shallow little lives. I don't have time to waste dwelling on them.

Name: Me
(my birthdate)
4:00 PM (my time zone)
(my city of birth)

Rising Sign is in 19 Degrees Libra
Very attractive and popular, your charm helps you to get your own way and prevents others from getting angry with you. "Peace and harmony at all costs" is your battle cry. You always try to ameliorate or to cosmetically hide any physical ugliness or any angry feelings between people. Flashy, but not gaudy, you prefer to dress elegantly. You generally have good taste in music, art and literature. Beware of the tendency to compromise yourself in your attempt to be agreeable at all times. A bit of a social butterfly, at times you can be vain and lazy. For the most part, however, you are gracious and affectionate, and your refined and aristocratic demeanor serves as a role model to others.

Flattery will get you anywhere dahling, but I'm not that vain nor I am the most compromising person in the world.

Sun is in 27 Degrees Taurus.
You are known for being patient, slow moving and careful -- you love to prolong and savor enjoyable times. You appreciate and need comfort, ease and warm surroundings. Be careful of a tendency to become placid and self-satisfied and to overeat (especially sweets). You require strenuous situations in order to grow and mature properly, even though you try to avoid them. Affectionate, even-tempered and slow to anger -- when you do become emotionally upset, you are also slow to forgive and time must pass before your calm returns. You demand real results from any situation -- abstractions are very difficult for you to comprehend. Very artistic, your hands love to mold and shape things. You portray an earthy, physical sexiness that others find quite seductive.

Yesh, sweets my weakness. That's why I got diabetes. Very slow to forgive and quite demanding. I can figure out most abstracts, but I'd rather deal with the here and now. Yesh, I'm quite sexy. Thank you. :D

Moon is in 22 Degrees Aquarius.
Very freedom-oriented, you must always be able to do what you wish, no matter what. You become stubborn and recalcitrant when others try to force you into a mold. You are a true democrat -- you are not a follower, but you enjoy being with those who are like-minded. You appreciate emotional self-control -- you practice it yourself and you look for it in others. You solve problems, including emotional ones, with your brains and intellect, not your feelings. Try to be tolerant of those who have powerful and obvious emotional responses -- not everyone is as objective, cool, dispassionate and detached as you are.

I must cater to my inner anarquist. Indeed. Very selective and picky at the time to choose company. Self-control is a must these days. Yesh I tend to like enjoying problems. Sometimes they are more trouble than they are worth, but those are the breakes. I strive for objectiveness and cool, so I AM NOT COLD NOR CALCULATING. Y'HEAR K? :D

Mercury is in 19 Degrees Gemini.
Your mind is active, quick and agile. You are very restless and you get bored easily. Unless you receive constant mental stimulation, you become extremely nervous and begin to act in an unstable manner. You are probably a good student because of your natural inquisitiveness. You also love to travel. Your learning tends to be superficial, though, because you have a relatively short attention span. Try to develop the mental discipline to finish what you start. Also, you tend to talk on at times seemingly just to fill space -- make sure that your conversation has some substance to it or others will start avoiding you.

Yes, they've got me down pat. Very short attention span if things get boring though. And I'm working out the conversation part. Lord knows I hate talking crap or having nothing to say. I keep me mouth shut these days. Rather listen and learn.

Venus is in 19 Degrees Taurus.
You are known to be a warm and affectionate person, and you tend to form long- lasting attachments. The reverse of this is that you can also be quite possessive once you have made a commitment. The beauty, luxury and comfort of your surroundings are important to you and you will devote much time and energy to making your home just right. Beware of your tendency toward self-indulgence, especially with respect to eating incorrectly. You also need outside stimuli to get you in gear When things come too easily for you, you can be lazy and indolent.

Got the warm, affectionate and long term part down pat. Possesive? Maybe because I'm very picky and it takes time and effort to find that special someone to be with. Got the self-indulgent part down pat too. I love to eat. And yes, I am restless when I get bored.

Mars is in 07 Degrees Gemini.
Your energies get turned on quickly whenever anything interests you. But you have a very short attention span and it is difficult for you to complete tasks because something else more interesting always seems to be beckoning. You love to debate and argue, usually in a spirit of friendly disagreement. But watch out that you do not get too overly aggressive or antagonistic or others will be quick to take offense where none may have really been intended. You need to be in constant physical motion -- sports or daily exercise is a must for you if you are to feel fit and healthy.

Heh. Love arguing and debating. It's in my blood.

Jupiter is in 26 Degrees Leo.
You must be proud of all that you do in order to grow and develop. You enjoy being totally honest and aboveboard and you revel in the admiration and respect you receive from others due to your high- minded, upright way of life. Make sure, though, that your natural tendency to boast and show off is based on your actual accomplishments. Don't fall prey to self-exaggeration or arrogance. You truly do like outrageous spectacles and grand jolly times and will go out of your way to make them a reality.

Can't argue that one, really. But my high self-esteem sometimes is confused by arrogance by some people. Fuck 'em, really.

Saturn is in 20 Degrees Aries.
You are aloof, independent and standoffish. This is mainly due to your fear that others might inhibit or restrict you and, quite frankly, you feel that you can govern your life by your own standards. Be careful not to associate with those who are overly critical of you or you will withdraw so deeply into your shell that you will become very lonely. You have the ability to stand on your own two feet and to make up your own mind -- albeit very carefully and cautiously. But you are known for your circumspection and therefore are respected and admired.

Damn right Skippy!

Uranus is in 25 Degrees Virgo.
You, and all your peers, will be known for the degree of intensity with which you dislike normal everyday routines and chores. You will go out of your way to invent innovative, unique and timesaving ways to perform the various mundane routines and duties of living. You will be attracted to all manner of practical and useful gadgets -- anything that will make your daily life more exciting.

Ditto!

Neptune is in 25 Degrees Scorpio.
You, and your entire generation, are extremely interested in anything deep and mysterious. You will explore and idealize the benefits that can accrue from the study of the occult, healing and psychology. You are willing to experiment with substances like drugs in order to push your understanding of your inner being to the extreme.

Heheheheh. Word to the wise though: Do not try to sell me all that trendy bullshit that passes for deepness and spirituality today because most of it makes me want to throw up. Major turn-offs include: Deepak Chopra, Paulo Coelho, whatever Dan Brown writes, whatever bullshit christians come up with in order to be trendy and gain converts, etc.

Pluto is in 20 Degrees Virgo.
For your entire generation, this will be a time when profound changes in society's attitude toward work, duty and responsibility will be initiated. Radical changes in attitudes toward personal health and general nutrition will be promulgated and gain wide acceptance and practice.

Yeah, I am afraid I'm gonna be lumped in that group thanks to my diabetes.

N. Node is in 18 Degrees Aries.
You're at your most comfortable when involved in group activities outside of your immediate family circle. You delight in getting involved with others in neighborhood civic or political activities, especially if you can be a part of the leadership of the group. Your zeal and overabundant energy bring out your real creativity when you can work toward tangible results -- things that will immediately benefit those around you. You have a real gift for getting the most out of charity drives and community benefits. Take time out between projects though, because you tire out easily and your effectiveness becomes greatly diminished when your energy is depleted. Also, don't even think of trying to get involved at a peripheral level -- you need a total commitment to feel personally fulfilled. Let others bake the cookies and set up the chairs -- you should be the one to tell everyone what to do and when to do it!

Correct!

A pretty fair assesment all in all. So, whatcha think?

i against i, eze tiene la culpa y otros sucesos.

Ches, I *do* hold grudges. Too bad. O algo.

This past weekend was Kymill's birthday and Alex, Stiv and moi got together to celebrate it with her last Friday at a TGIFriday's near my house. Yes, K and her three ex boyfriends having a birthday dinner. Heh. That was fun. Then we headed out to Mayaguez that evening. Long drive but funny as hell because I left my cellphone at home *and* we were making fun of whatever was on the radio so we could be awake.

Saturday LS, Kymill, Stiv, Sara and her family went to visit Las Cavernas de Camuy National Park. Fucking impressive mate! You have to see them in person to fully appreciate the impact. I was kinda sick because I ate something and the tour lasts for about an hour with no bathroom in sight, but aside from that I handled it well. LS took some pictures and I hope she can send them so I can post them and you can just drool. We split afterwards for Chili's for more birthday celebrations for Kymill.

We sort of wanted to watch Sin City again because we wanted to hook Stiv and K. to it, but we were all tired. We settled watching "Vampiros En La Habana" for LS's benefit and started watching "Memento" but LS had to go home and I had to pass out in the bed.

Sunday was ok. Everyone was on a resting mood so LS and I had some quality time. Watched "Fever Pitch" with her and laughed a lot. This might be the Farrelly's most viewer friendly flick yet (probably closer to Outside Providence). Then I took the bus back home.

No cellphone meant not being able to call up someone to pick me up at the bus station so I used my wits and got hold of a cab ride home. Uploaded the files needed for my job's webpage and after watching Deadwood and The Shield went to sleep.

This morning I got the rudest service ever from the state's Revenue Department or Hacienda as we call it. Fucking bastards want you to do your income taxes on time and I sure do, so I expect to get my refund on time as well. That and the money Adelphia owes me should be coming anytime.

The little fuckers at the university are marching to the President's office today so the entrance I normally take was closed but I got the guys at my job to pick me up and I was able to get here. Hopefully all this bullshit will be done and over with on Wendesday.

1 more week to wait for my DSL installation kit.

Oh yeah, new versions of Kanotix, Kubuntu and Knoppix are available so download them you freaks!

LS and I are having our busiest days today so bear with us. O algo.

Oh in the karma department, it seems Comcast is going to buy Adelphia. Adelphia's been bankrupt for a long while and the end seems to be coming.

Well, the UPR Rio Piedras campus is on strike and we've had to move fast in order to get my check. I did get paid and at least things are settling down. My tax refund is supposed to be on my account by next week and my cable modem refund is due in two weeks. Money money money. Tired, weary, and need some rest.

ok. over and out.

Gotta love it!

Yes I am still in love with my woman. W00t!
